Greetings! I’m Robin Gibson, a multi-passionate muralist, designer, educator and mom of three, based in Oakland, California.
Creating art has been my passion since I was old enough to hold a crayon, and upon graduating high school, I wanted nothing more than to continue my journey as an artist. I matriculated to Parsons School of Design in New York in 1999 where I majored in Photography. However, after connecting with painter Brian Gormley, I realized an increasing obsession with painting, history, and politics.
My excitement about exploring the intersection of history, cultural mores, and art redirected my path. I pressed pause on my formal education and enrolled as a fulltime student of the world, pursuing various opportunities before deciding to become an educator. I completed my undergraduate studies at Mills College, where I had the opportunity to study oil painting with renown artist, Hung Liu. In 2008 I earned an M.A.Ed. from Stanford University and began teaching History, Studio Art, and later Mural, English and Theater in several high schools and middle schools throughout Oakland.
Being an educator fulfilled me and allowed me to engage tangentially with my artistic passions, but eventually my first love beckoned me back; In 2014 I stepped away from the classroom and returned, full circle, to nurturing my career in art and design.
