OUR TEAM

Robin Gibson is our team’s lead muralist, designer, and project manager based in Oakland, California. Robin began her advanced arts education at Parsons School of Design in New York. After connecting with painter Brian Gormley, and excited about exploring the intersection of history, cultural mores and art, Robin decided to complete her undergraduate studies at Mills College where she had the opportunity to study oil painting with renowned artist Hung Liu. In 2008 she earned an M.A.Ed. from Stanford University and began teaching History, Studio Art, and later Mural, English and Theater Arts in several schools throughout the Bay Area. In 2014, she began her transition to full-time mural, design and project management.

Octavio Hernandez is an assistant muralist, designer, educator and community engagement specialist. After completing his undergraduate studies at UC Santa Cruz, Octavio has spent more than 20 years teaching studio art and mural in Oakland.

Virdell Hickman is an assistant muralist and client liaison. Virdell completed her undergraduate studies at Millis College, where she also studied with renowned painter Hung Liu and received both the Judy Hiltner Prize and the Wellhousen Family Award for excellence in Art. Her recent exhibits include Dia de los Muertos, at SOMArts, and Land, Air & Sea at The Drawing Room, in San Francisco, CA.

Ebony Osun Morris is an assistant muralist and designer. Ebony recently graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles where she acquired her Bachelors of Arts in Fine Art with a double minor in African American Studies and Global Studies. Through mural, Morris seeks to construct a reality beyond imposed narratives of Black American identity, emphasizing self-identification and self-actualization within curated spaces.
